MPAN
A Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN) is used to identify individual electricity supply points. It’s usually a 21-digit number with the letter ‘S’ at the beginning and is displayed in a grid. You’ll also find your MPAN on your business electricity bill under the section called ‘Details of charges’.
MPRN
Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) is a unique identification number assigned to each individual gas supply . They are made up of numbers only and don’t contain any letters. The format of an MPRN is standardised and consist of between 6 and 11 digits.
- The MPRN is for Gas Supplies only and should not be confused with an MPAN which is for electricity. MPAN stands for Meter Point Administration Number.
The MPRN is different from the meter Serial Number which is written on the meter.
If the MPRN starts with 74 or 75 it indicates that your local gas network is provided by an Independent Gas Transporter. Some gas suppliers charge a premium rate to customers served by Independent Gas Transporters.
SPID
Every business has a unique Supply Point Identifier to identify the water and/or sewage supplies at the property. The Supply Point Identifier number is also called a SPID number.
If you can’t find a recent invoice or bill, you can get in touch with your water retailer and give them your supply address in order to find out what your SPID number is.
